Turkish prosecutors have issued a detention warrant for leading businessman Turgay Ciner.
Earlier this month, authorities launched an investigation into his Ciner Group business amid suspected money laundering, tax evasion and organised crime. State trustees have been appointed to manage the companies.
They will oversee the media operations of Can Holding’s seized outlets that include Habertürk and Show TV.
The seizure adds to concerns that Turkey is consolidating control of remaining “independent” media under state oversight or trusteeship.
Multiple executives have been taken into custody ahead of Sunday’s order.
