Astra satellite operator SES is consolidating its position in Germany by bringing its subsidiary HD Plus under closer control, following a management reshuffle.
From 1 October 2025, Christoph Mühleib, currently Managing Director of SES in Germany, will also take charge of HD Plus, the operating company of German DTH satellite and TV streaming platform HD+.
Mühleib succeeds Andreas Müller-Vondey, who steps down on 30 September after 15 years with the company. Mühleib will now oversee both SES operations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and HD+, aligning the two businesses more closely.
“Andreas has played a decisive role in shaping HD+ since 2010. We appreciate Andreas for his commitment over the past 15 years, and wish him all the best for the future,” said Deepak Mathur, President Media Vertical at SES. “As TV and video consumption patterns evolve, the strategies of TV broadcasters and hardware manufacturers are also changing. We believe a closer integration between SES in Germany and HD Plus will bring valuable opportunities for TV broadcasters, content providers and consumers.”
HD Plus, established in 2009, offers a range of HD and Ultra HD channels from commercial broadcasters on the Astra satellite system (19.2° East) and via TV streaming apps. This includes HD+ branded operator applications on smart TVs from major TV set manufacturers.
Industry observers see the decision to integrate HD Plus more closely into parent company SES and place both operations under joint leadership in Germany as a clear strategic move, with the full implications for the HD+ business likely to emerge in the months ahead.
