Amazon Prime Video is to air four hours of exclusive live coverage of next year’s US Masters golf.
The convoluted rights agreement will see the streamer screen two hours of coverage from the Augusta National. Disney-owned ESPN will then show the rest of the day’s action on linear and streaming channels. The CBS Network will then pick up coverage on Saturday and Sunda with Paramount+ screening the first two hours of the day to US audiences.
“It’s an honour for all of us at Amazon to become a broadcast partner of the Masters Tournament and to provide fans additional hours of live coverage of this treasured event,” Jay Marine, Head of Prime Video US and Global Sports, said. “We are humbled and proud to begin our relationship with Augusta National Golf Club, and we cannot wait to get started.”
It’s not known how much Amazon has paid for the rights, though Augusta has previously licensed broadcasters on a limited scale, for relatively small financial return.
