Sky is planning to cut up to 600 jobs in the UK as the platform reduces its technology division following a series of new product launches.
The Comcast-owned business will consult on changes with 900 employees; about two-thirds are then likely to lose their jobs. The remainder are expected to be redeployed elsewhere in the business.
Staff employed at sites in Leeds, Livingston and Osterley are affected.
A Sky spokesperson said: “As we look ahead, we are shifting our approach to bring customers the next generation of experience by investing in digital-first service, unbeatable content, and even better performance from our products, powered by the best of global innovation.”
Sky employs in the region of 23,000 people in the UK and has already reduced numbers by around 3,000 in the past two years, mainly in the field of dish installation as Sky moves towards IP delivered services.
The consultation process follows a significant period of product renewal with the launch of the new Sky Glass and Sky Stream products.
