Canal+ and ORF extend UEFA Champions League partnership

September 12, 2025 00.20 Europe/London By Broadband TV News Correspondent

Canal+ and Austrian public broadcaster ORF will continue their UEFA Champions League cooperation this season with the joint highlight format Mehr Fußball – Die Champions League Highlights on ORF and pay-TV channel Canal+ Action.

Canal+ holds the exclusive Austrian rights to the Wednesday top match, starting on 17 September with Bayern Munich v Chelsea (21:00 CEST). The following evening at 23:00, ORF 1 and Canal+ Action will show the joint highlights programme with all goals and key moments from the first matchday.

Produced at Canal+’s Auhof Studios in Vienna, the show will be fronted by Elisabeth Gamauf (Canal+) and Rainer Pariasek (ORF), with Georg Teigl (Canal+) and Roman Mählich (ORF) as experts.

“Our exclusive rights position allows us to show Austrian fans the best UEFA Champions League matches live on Canal+. At the same time, together with ORF, we are relying on a proven partnership to present all the matches and goals compactly in the highlight show. Together, we deliver football at the highest level, week after week – live, informative and emotional,” said Thomas Trukesitz, Head of Sport at Canal+.

ORF Director General Roland Weißmann added: “The best from the Champions League will once again be available on ORF this season, compactly on ORF 1 or on demand via ORF ON. Cooperations on sports rights make sense when fans benefit – and that is exactly the case with this partnership with rights holder Canal+.”

Canal+ also has exclusive rights in Austria to the top match of the week in the UEFA Europa League or UEFA Conference League, with highlights following the live coverage. It will be the only broadcaster in the country to air all three UEFA club competition finals.
