OBS and DTVKit unveil OORO smart TV platform

September 11, 2025 22.26 Europe/London By Robert Briel

In a move set to redefine digital entertainment across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Elaraby Group and Ocean Blue Software (OBS) have unveiled OORO, the region’s first monetised Arabic smart TV platform.

Built by the region, for the region, OORO promises a transformative viewing experience tailored to Arabic-speaking audiences, underpinned by the global broadcast expertise of DTVKit.

OORO is a comprehensive ecosystem of TVs, set-top boxes, and streaming sticks engineered to meet the needs of MENA consumers. At its core is DTVKit’s open-source broadcast software stack, enabling OORO to deliver DVB and hybrid TV solutions that are both future-ready and deeply integrated with regional content providers.

Ismail Elarab, CEO of OORO, emphasised the platform’s mission: “Our partnership with DTVKit empowers OORO to combine global broadcast standards with our vision for a truly Arabic-first entertainment platform.”

Amy Cleary, Managing Director of DTVKit, echoed the sentiment: “OORO’s commitment to regional innovation and monetised content platforms reflects the very ethos of our foundation—open, collaborative, and future-focused.”

Andy Carr, Chief Product Officer at OBS, added: “This collaboration will not only enhance the TV experience for consumers in the MENA region but also enable a strong foundation for future innovations in Smart TV technology.”

DTVKit is a global shared-source foundation providing modular, production-ready software for Smart TV and STB platforms. Supporting DVB, ATSC, and hybrid solutions, DTVKit enables manufacturers and integrators to build scalable, cost-effective consumer devices.
