European audiences soaked up coverage of US Open tennis on HBO Max and Eurosport.
This year’s action from Flushing Meadows established new viewership records for Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), with exclusive broadcasts reaching 45 countries across Europe. Eurosport 1 notably increased its US Open audience by 32% compared to last year’s tournament.
In Poland, Eurosport celebrated its 25th year of coverage with a record audience for the men’s singles final between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, drawing a six-figure average viewership. Similarly, Eurosport France achieved its highest audience levels in a decade, as both the men’s and women’s singles finals (Aryna Sabalenka vs Amanda Anisimova) attracted an exceptional number of viewers.
Throughout the tournament, Eurosport delivered 260 hours of live coverage and reported audience growth across several markets, including a 50% increase in Romania and a 27% rise in the Netherlands compared to 2024. Seven of the ten most-watched programmes on Eurosport over the past week featured US Open matches, with Iga Swiatek’s quarter-final loss to Amanda Anisimova emerging as the top-rated broadcast, surpassing both singles finals and reaching millions of viewers Europe-wide.
The newly enhanced mixed doubles event also generated significant interest, particularly in Poland, where local favourite Iga Swiatek and partner Casper Ruud attracted 58% of total minutes watched during the two-day event.
HBO Max saw its tennis audience nearly double during the tournament period compared to the previous year. Substantial triple-digit audience growth was registered in France, Poland, and the Netherlands, alongside double-digit increases in Sweden, Finland, and Norway. Furthermore, the number of subscribers streaming the US Open rose by 86% year-on-year, with tennis accounting for 45% of all sports content streamed in Europe during the event.
Sky Sports broadcast the US Open to audiences in the UK.
