Orange and Synamedia have announced a new partnership ahead of a new solution being introduced at IBC2025.
The collaboration brings together a telco CDN (content delivery network) and a multi-CDN platform switching provider for the first time. It demonstrates how international content providers can implement a flexible, scalable, multi-CDN strategy, allowing integration of multiple CDN providers to increase coverage and access new markets.
“This alliance showcases how any CDN customer can now easily benefit from Orange’s strengths in CDN, particularly across Middle East and Africa, by taking advantage of this partnership to create an eco-system with Synamedia’s Multi-CDN management system,” said Cédric Hardouin, Vice President of CDN and Edge at Orange Wholesale/
By integrating Orange’s CDN with Synamedia’s Quortex Switch multi-CDN platform, customers can access a broader network, particularly in the Middle East and Africa, where Orange has a significant presence. Introduced in March 2025, Quortex Switch enables API-based integration and advanced configuration, providing flexibility for distribution expansion without changing existing infrastructure or current CDN partnerships. Distribution can be managed based on Quality of Experience metrics, and the system allows viewer segmentation by geo-location.
Ed Allfrey, General Manager of Video Network, Synamedia said: “This is our first partnership with a telecom-grade CDN provider, and it breaks new ground by extending the reach of reliable, scalable CDNs to emerging markets thanks to Orange’s CDN proof of performance in the Middle East and Africa.”
Quortex Switch is a SaaS tool built to meet industry standards, facilitating the design of multi-CDN systems while supporting low-latency, high-quality streaming and disaster recovery. It uses traffic management and content delivery algorithms to dynamically route end-users to available sources and supports mid-stream switching between CDNs to maintain uninterrupted viewing.
Africa’s streaming market is expected to grow by 50% by 2030. Orange operates a wide-ranging CDN network in the Middle East and Africa, helping international content providers scale securely, efficiently, and in compliance with local regulations.
