Streaming on ITVX increased by 35% year-on-year in August with drama and reality among the top performing genres.
In August, ITVX recorded over 260 million streams, the highest growth since launch three years ago, attributed to a range of drama and reality commissions, as well as steady viewership for soaps.
Drama was the leading genre in August with 80 million streams. The top ten included dramas such as I Fought the Law (featuring Sheridan Smith), Ridley, and Karen Pirie.
The reality genre showed the most significant annual growth, doubling its streams compared to the previous year. Love Island’s final week registered its highest viewership since Series 8 in 2022, and the 15th anniversary series of The Only Way Is Essex launched with 7 million streams.
The new commission The Princess Diaries ranked among the most viewed programmes on ITVX for several days, reaching over 5.5 million streams. The second series of Fortune Hotel, hosted by Stephen Mangan, also saw strong performance with 4.4 million streams.
Emmerdale was the most streamed programme across all genres. Combined, both soaps – Emmerdale and Coronation Street – generated nearly 40 million streams, a 24% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
