nanocosmos launches MOQ-based real-time streaming platform at IBC

September 9, 2025 12.35 Europe/London By Broadband TV News Correspondent

German streaming technology provider nanocosmos has unveiled a major upgrade to its real-time video platform, introducing a Media over QUIC (MOQ) solution that promises sub-second latency for applications including gaming, live betting, auctions and corporate events.

The Berlin-based company is showcasing the technology at IBC 2025 in Amsterdam from 12-15 September.

The new platform integrates MOQ across its entire content delivery network (CDN), not just at the playback stage, enabling end-to-end delivery with latencies under 500 milliseconds. According to nanocosmos, it is the first CDN provider to operate globally with MOQ/WebTransport.

“MOQ is superior to WebRTC in terms of video quality, stability and flexibility and we are proud to introduce the first MOQ-based real-time streaming solution on a CDN foundation that is ready for worldwide deployment,” said Oliver Lietz, CEO and founder of nanocosmos. “With more than 25 years of experience as an innovation leader with technology made in Europe, we are once again demonstrating the great potential of European development work in global competition.”

For 10 years, nanocosmos’ platform has been purpose-built for ultra-low latency, large-scale, one-to-many live streaming based on its proven H5Live technology, serving businesses where every millisecond counts, from gaming, sports betting, and live auctions to stock trading, live commerce, corporate communications, education and large-scale virtual events.

The company’s innovation has been recognised by the industry: it won the “Realtime Streaming Solution” category at this year’s Streaming Media European Innovation Awards for its nanoStream service.

The new MOQ platform is designed as a turnkey solution, spanning ingest to playback. By combining QUIC, WebTransport and HTTP/3 with nanocosmos’ existing infrastructure, it delivers real-time distribution across more than 1,000 CDN nodes worldwide, with browser-native playback even under challenging network conditions.

At IBC, nanocosmos is offering live demonstrations of the platform at its stand (5.A34). CEO Oliver Lietz will also deliver two presentations on the Content Everywhere Stage, focusing on the role of MOQ in next-generation video streaming and real-time platform deployments. In addition, the company is hosting a “MOQtail Boat Party” on Sunday, 14 September, together with MOQ expert Ali Begen, founder of the MOQtail project.
