Autentic promotes Julian Althaus to lead channels division

September 2, 2025 19.15 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Autentic has promoted Julian Althaus to head its channels division, strengthening the German media company’s strategic development of its digital activities.

With immediate effect, Althaus will take over responsibility for the Channel Division as Director Channels & Digital Sales. The unit currently operates seven FAST Channels, including Terra Mater WILD and Autentic History, as well as several YouTube channels such as Autentic Documentary.

Althaus has been part of the Autentic Distribution sales team for over ten years and has played a key role in building and expanding the company’s digital business. In his new role, he will oversee the management and growth of the company’s channel activities and digital distribution. Additionally, he will continue to be responsible for global digital sales at Autentic Distribution.

In addition, Autentic is strengthening its team with the appointment of Thomas Handl as the new YouTube Manager. Starting in October 2025, he will be responsible for managing Autentic’s YouTube channels. Handl previously managed YouTube operations at Studio 100 and Toon2Tango, a Leonine company, and gained experience as a content creator.

“Autentic is consistently expanding its presence in the international FAST and streaming market. Under Julian’s leadership, our channel team is perfectly positioned to seize new opportunities in the digital business. And Thomas’s support will strengthen our efforts to connect even more closely with our viewers, especially on YouTube,” said Patrick Hörl, Managing Director of Autentic, in Munich.

Autentic focuses on high-quality documentaries and factual series, covering the value chain from content development and production to global distribution. The company, which also operates its own factual FAST, YouTube, and pay-TV channels, is part of Beta, one of Europe’s leading independent film and television groups.
