German sports streaming service Sportdeutschland.TV is relaunching as Sporteurope.TV, marking the most significant transformation in its 10-year history.
The move sees the platform extend its reach across the continent, positioning itself as a pan-European destination for live and on-demand sports streaming.
Launched in 2014 with the support of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), Sportdeutschland.TV has become home to more than 70 sports and 33 governing bodies, covering a wide spectrum from grassroots and amateur competitions to international elite events.
“Never has the European idea been more present, never has European sport been more diverse. Exactly now is the moment to reunite sport as a whole – and to celebrate it together with the fans on one platform,” said Björn Beinhauer, managing director of DOSB New Media, which operates the service.
The rebrand signals a strategic shift from a national to a pan-European focus. Sporteurope.TV aims to unite leagues, competitions and sports across the continent, offering audiences a broad range of competitions from regional championships to major international tournaments.
At the same time, the platform will maintain its core principles, according to DOSB New Media. It will continue to offer tens of thousands of hours of live and on-demand coverage for free, alongside a flexible pay-per-view model. Unlike traditional subscription services, viewers pay only for what they want to watch, without long-term contracts or automatic renewals.
With its relaunch, Sporteurope.TV offers a significantly broader range of competitions. Tennis fans can follow the US Open with live streams, on-demand matches and exclusive highlights. Ice hockey coverage includes the DEL, DEL2, the ICE Hockey League, the Champions Hockey League, the Spengler Cup and NHL games, with around 300 matches available each season including the playoffs and Stanley Cup Finals, alongside the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship.
Athletics is represented through the Diamond League as well as Gold-level events from the World Athletics Continental and Indoor Tours. In handball, the platform streams German and international competitions ranging from the Women’s Handball Bundesliga and the 3rd Men’s League to European and World Championships. Volleyball, American football, basketball and badminton are also part of the line-up.
“We have shown in Germany that our model works – both for athletes and federations as well as for the fans. It matches the spirit of the times and the changing expectations of users,” Beinhauer explained. “Now is the moment to extend this success across Europe. Europe has never been as important as it is today. The cohesion of nations, the exchange between cultures and mutual support – all of this is united through sport. Sporteurope.TV will be a platform that promotes these values more strongly than ever.”
Looking ahead, DOSB New Media’s ambition is to establish Sporteurope.TV as the go-to streaming hub for European sport. The name reflects both its geographical expansion and its broader programme diversity.
“Sport knows no borders. Sport connects. And this is precisely the philosophy we want to live and carry forward with Sporteurope.TV. We are convinced that our model, which focuses on individuality and flexibility, will meet with a positive response across Europe,” concluded Beinhauer.
