German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland has unveiled a new streaming service designed specifically for the hospitality sector, in time for the start of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season.
The product, called Sky Stream for Gastronomy, allows bars and restaurants to access Sky’s full sports offering via the internet, eliminating the need for a traditional cable or satellite connection. All that is required is a TV and an internet connection with at least 10Mbps per box.
“With Sky Stream, we are offering restaurant and bar owners the easiest way yet to bring our premium sports coverage to their guests,” the company said. “This will make the gastronomy sector a hotspot for sports fans – increasing dwell time, attracting more guests and boosting revenues.”
The new service comes as Sky expands its Bundesliga offering. Starting this season, the broadcaster will show all 30 Friday night matches live under the new “Flutlicht-Freitag” format. Sky already covers all Saturday afternoon fixtures, the top match on Saturday evening, and Sunday games, which are available as re-live broadcasts directly after the final whistle.
In total, Sky will air 538 out of 617 Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga matches live and in full during the 2025/26 season.
Sky Stream is delivered through a small box that connects via HDMI and provides access not only to Sky Sport channels but also free-to-air content, on-demand videos, and exclusive features such as Multiview, which allows multiple simultaneous Bundesliga matches to be displayed on one screen.
The service offers Ultra HD and HDR picture quality, as well as additional entertainment such as music TV.
Alongside the Bundesliga, Sky continues to broadcast every match from the DFB Cup and the UK Premier League, all Formula 1 and MotoGP races, plus a range of international sports events. Thanks to its partnership with Amazon Prime Video, Champions League Tuesday’s top game is also available directly via the Sky platform.
Sky Business is complementing the launch with marketing materials such as signage, stickers and digital templates, alongside a new digital customer portal. The “Sky Finder” platform will also list participating venues.
According to Sky, live broadcasts outside the home attract an average of 1.87 million viewers per week in Germany, with each spending around €16.51 on food and drink.
