Dyn launches free sports channel Dyn Sport Mix

August 20, 2025 08.49 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German sports streaming service Dyn is expanding its offering with the launch of a new free-to-air channel, Dyn Sport Mix, which will showcase background formats, highlight programmes and live sport from its portfolio of handball, basketball, volleyball, table tennis and hockey.

The channel, which started broadcasting this week, is available immediately via Amazon Prime Video, Zattoo, Joyn and Pluto TV, with DTH satellite distribution on Astra (19.2° East) to follow shortly. Dyn Sport Mix operates as a linear, advertising-financed FAST Channel.

According to the company, the new initiative is designed to widen the reach of its sports offering and attract new audiences. Dyn, which recently completed its second season since launch, sees the addition of Dyn Sport Mix as a major next step.

Dyn Sport Mix will carry popular magazine shows such as Kretzsche & Schmiso, offering viewers insights behind the scenes of sport. Fans will also be able to watch highlights and replays across the five sports, alongside regular live coverage.

One of the first live events to air on the channel will be the reigning German handball champions Füchse Berlin’s clash with Bergischer HC on 31 August. Further confirmed matches include table tennis, second division and top-flight handball fixtures, with basketball, hockey and volleyball to follow. The first basketball game on Dyn Sport Mix will see Ulm take on Chemnitz in the Basketball Bundesliga on 28 September.

“We want to increase the attention and reach for our sports. Since the launch two years ago, we have always been concerned with making access to Dyn sports as easy as possible. A free-to-air channel helps us achieve this goal. Even sports fans who previously had little contact with our sports can now benefit from our broad offering without barriers. That is why it is important to us that the content there meets the quality standard at Dyn and that we provide a broad editorial offering,” said Andreas Heyden, CEO of Dyn.

Alongside the audience expansion, Dyn is positioning the new service as an attractive platform for advertising partners.

Max Ehrhardt, Chief Revenue & Marketing Officer at Dyn, explained: “With Dyn Sport Mix, we are offering for the first time a new linear product that is specifically aimed at fans, end customers and advertising partners. Our goal is to further expand our already highly attractive offering for the advertising market and create new, exciting touchpoints. We received extremely positive feedback from potential partners about our planned channel and were therefore able to quickly secure relevant partnerships in recent weeks. Dyn Sport Mix combines high-quality live content with innovative advertising formats and thus provides a strong environment for brands that want to position themselves authentically in sport.”

Fans can watch the channel free of charge on mobile devices, tablets, browsers and smart TVs via Amazon Prime Video, Zattoo, Joyn and Pluto TV, with Astra satellite distribution due to launch soon.
