LFP Media’s new Ligue 1 channel has made it debut ahead of the weekend’s first matches.
The streaming service will be available on all the leading ISPs in France including SFR, Orange, Bouygues, and Free.
The multi-operator approach demonstrates the League’s commitment to optimising the reach of its offering to the public.
Amazon has added Ligue 1+ to its portfolio of channels, as has DAZN, though Canal+ remains firm in not joining the list of distributors.
An aggressive sales strategy has emerged with Amazon Prime offering an introductory offer of €12.99 per month with an annual commitment, while the League and other operators have established even more attractive promotional pricing. The latter includes a preferential rate of €9.99 per month for the first three months, followed by an increase to €14.99 per month, subject to subscription being taken out before August 31.
This pricing offensive is part of a market penetration strategy aimed at quickly establishing a solid subscriber base. The introductory offer reflects the economic challenges being faced by sports broadcasters in France and beyond.
This week, DAZN Spain announced ae discounted rate for the under 30s.
