German commercial broadcaster RTLzwei has appointed Thorsten Braun as its new CEO and managing director.
Braun will succeed Andreas Bartl, who left RTLzwei in June 2025 after more than a decade at the helm. He will assume his new role at the end of the year, with the exact date still to be confirmed.
Braun, 53, joins RTLzwei from RTL Deutschland, where he has served since January 2024 as Chief Marketing, Brand & Consumer Products Officer, overseeing the company’s brand strategy, marketing activities, and licensing and merchandising business. He previously led Super RTL as managing director and held senior roles at RTL Deutschland, The Walt Disney Company in Munich, Publicis Media and Paramount.
Inga Leschek, Chief Content Officer at RTL Deutschland and chair of the RTLzwei shareholders’ meeting, described Braun as “a creative and courageous strategist” who understands how to bring content and brands to audiences “across all the channels a modern digital media house must serve”.
Braun said he was looking forward to working with the RTLzwei team to “develop new growth impulses and innovative content” and to “lead RTLzwei courageously and successfully into the future”.
He will work alongside CFO/COO Nicole Glatzmaier, who has been running RTLzwei on an interim basis since Bartl’s departure.
