waipu.tv launches channel for cult and award-winning series

August 8, 2025 21.07 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German streaming platform waipu.tv has launched a new linear channel titled Serien Hits, offering a curated selection of acclaimed cult series and international fan favourites.

The new channel is produced in collaboration with Munich-based content distributor and production company Palatin Media.

Available exclusively to subscribers of the Perfect Plus package, Serien Hits delivers a broad mix of genres – from crime and science fiction to fantasy and historical drama. All featured content is also accessible on demand via the platform’s waiputhek.

True to its name, Serien Hits features a line-up of celebrated series, including cult heist drama Leverage, the award-winning Canadian police procedural 19‑2, and the French crime series Art of Crime. Fans of true crime can also tune into Hollywood Homicide, which explores real-life criminal cases involving celebrities.

The science fiction and fantasy slate includes dystopian time-travel thriller Continuum, supernatural Western Wynonna Earp, visually striking martial arts family drama Kingdom, and fantasy adventure series The Outpost.

For viewers with a taste for historical storytelling, the channel showcases high-end productions such as the BBC’s The Virgin Queen, chronicling the life of Elizabeth I, the seafaring miniseries To the Ends of the Earth starring Benedict Cumberbatch, and the modern, stylised retelling of Casanova, featuring David Tennant and Peter O’Toole.
