The German TV set sales market remained stable in the first half of 2025, with 2.1 million devices sold, the same level as in H1 2024.
A strong first quarter, fuelled by replacement purchases following the end of ARD’s SD satellite broadcasts at the start of the year, offset a weaker Q2. In Q1 2025 alone, 1.2 million TV sets were sold.
The figures were released in the latest CE-Branchenkompass report from German industry associations ZVEI and Deutsche TV-Plattform, published in cooperation with market research company NIQ.
After smaller screens dominated sales early in the year, demand for larger devices picked up again in Q2. TVs with screen sizes between 51 and 65 inches, as well as those above 65 inches, both saw a 2% increase in unit sales.
Overall, the consumer electronics market tracked by the Branchenkompass – including TVs, accessories, radios, headphones, speakers, and sound systems – generated revenues of €2.7 billion in the first six months of 2025. This represents a 6% drop compared to the same period in the previous year.
