Fresh from England’s victory at Euro 2025 Sunday, ITV and BBC Sport have jointly secured the broadcasting rights for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027.
It means that the event will remain free-to-air for audiences throughout the UK.
The 2027 tournament will feature 32 teams and commence on 24 June, marking the first time the competition is held in South America. A total of 64 matches will take place across eight host cities, culminating in the final on Sunday, 25 July. Both ITV and BBC Sport will share television rights equally as has been the case for previous World Cups and the Euros.
ITV will provide extensive live match coverage via ITV1, ITV4, and ITVX with match highlights accessible on ITVX and across ITV’s social media channels, including @ITVFootball on X, Facebook, and Instagram, as well as @ITVSport on TikTok and YouTube, ensuring broad audience engagement. ITV will also continue its role as the primary broadcaster for the Lionesses, covering all of England’s qualifying matches and friendlies prior to the tournament.
BBC Sport will deliver comprehensive live coverage across television and BBC iPlayer. Its digital platforms will offer an enhanced viewing experience with real-time clips, detailed highlights, expert analysis, and exclusive behind-the-scenes content available via the BBC Sport website, app, and social channels (@BBCSport and @BBCWomensFootball on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and X). The agreement further includes extensive live audio coverage through BBC Radio 5 Live, 5 Sports Extra, and BBC Sounds, ensuring audiences can follow the action at every stage and on every platform.
Niall Sloane, ITV Director of Sport, commented: “ITV is proud to support the ongoing growth of women’s football in the UK. As the home of the Lionesses, we recognize the importance of keeping tournaments such as the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 free-to-air, allowing future generations of fans to enjoy the sport as it reaches new heights of popularity.”
Alex Kay-Jelski, Director of BBC Sport, added: “BBC Sport has long championed women’s football, playing a vital role in elevating the game to its current level of prominence and popularity. Continuing our partnership with FIFA and ITV guarantees that the excitement of the Women’s World Cup remains widely accessible, inspiring established and new audiences alike across the UK.”
The ITV Sport portfolio includes prominent events such as the Men’s FIFA World Cup 2026, UEFA Men’s Euros 2028, Men’s FIFA World Cup 2030, Guinness Men’s Six Nations Championship, ITV Horse Racing, LIV Golf, and the Carabao Cup, among other notable sporting highlights.
