Sportdigital secures Polish Ekstraklasa football rights

July 27, 2025 09.36 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Poland’s first-division football league Ekstraklasa has signed new licensing agreements for the 2025/26 and 2026/27 seasons, making the league even more accessible to international audiences.

In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the league’s broadcast partner is sports channel Sportdigital Fußball, which will air selected top matches. The broadcasts will be available on the linear channels Sportdigital Fußball and Sportdigital Fußball 2, as well as on the Sportdigital+ app – all in German.

“We are delighted to continue our partnership with Ekstraklasa in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Our viewers appreciate the excellent broadcast quality, and German fans in particular are very happy to be able to continue watching Lukas Podolski’s games. ‘Poldi’ still has many fans not only in Cologne, who will continue to be well served by Sportdigital Fußball in the future”, said Bendix Eisermann, Managing Director of Sportdigital.

Marcin Animucki, President of Ekstraklasa, added: “Interest in Ekstraklasa in Europe is growing season by season. The new broadcast agreements for the PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa, which will now feature on channels available in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, are a strong signal of our league’s growing prestige. These countries not only play an important role on the European football map, but also have a highly demanding audience. This is another important step in building a strong, recognisable Ekstraklasa brand abroad.”

Both Sportdigital Fußball and Sportdigital Fußball 2 are widely available in the region – through platforms such as Sky Deutschland (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), Vodafone, Magenta V, Zattoo and many more, reaching a total of around 7 million viewers.

Sportdigital broadcasts further football competitions including for example the Portuguese League, Copa del Rey, MLS, J.League, the Scottish Premiership, AFC Champions League and more.
