TRT Director General Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zahid Sobacı has been reappointed as Director General for a second four-year term.
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zahid Sobacı graduated from Uludağ University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Public Administration in 2001.
He went on to serve as the Vice Director of the Directorate of Communications of Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye between 2018 and 2021. At the same time, he served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Press Advertising Agency between 2019-2021.
Sobacı has been President of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) since 2023, the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) and the African Union of Broadcasting (AUB), as well as various international broadcasting organizations such as the Permanent Conference of the Mediterranean Audiovisual Operators (COPEAM), the Mediterranean Center for Audiovisual Communication (CMCA), and the Association for International Broadcasting (AIB).
