Almost a third of Poles are spending over PLN 60 per month on access to streaming platforms, according to the latest IBRiS survey for Polish press agency PAP.
22% is spending between 21 to 40 zlotys, and 17.9% from 41 to 60 zlotys. Another 15.2% of respondents are spending up to 20 zlotys.10.9% of all Poles use free trial periods or shared accounts and manage to access streaming without paying a single zloty to do so.
Younger people are less likely to pay for access to platforms
Men are much more likely than women to declare expenses above PLN 60 (37.4% vs. 21.8%) and up to PLN 20 (20.8% vs. 10.1%). Women, on the other hand, are more likely to use free options or shared accounts (21.8% vs. 1.2% for men).
In the 18-29 age group, most people spend up to PLN 20 (41.1%). 23.5% spend PLN 21-40, and 14.5% over PLN 60. 11.9% use free options. In the 30-39 age group, spending above PLN 60 (40.9%) dominates, and 46.9% spends PLN 41-60. Only 3.8% spend up to PLN 20. Among people aged 60-69, by far the highest percentage spends over PLN 60 (57.2%). In the group of 70 and older, most people (32.0%) spend over PLN 60. At the same time, 17.9% use free options, and 23.0% do not know/it is difficult to say how much they spend.
“The fact that almost a third of the respondents spend over 60 zlotys per month indicates that for many Poles, streaming has become an integral part of the household budget for entertainment,” says Kamil Smogorzewski, director of communication at IBRiS. “We see a clear variation in spending by age and gender, where men and middle-aged people tend to incur higher costs. Also interesting is the relatively high percentage of people using free options or shared accounts, which indicates the need for flexibility of price offers and the search for economic solutions by some consumers,” he adds.
