FAST Channel World of Freesports will stream the iconic Challenge Roth live for the first time on 6 July 2025, offering international viewers an emotional and action-packed day from one of the world’s most prestigious long-distance triathlons.
The full-day coverage will be screened in English language and will run from the starting gun at 6:15 CEST until the awards ceremony around 15:15 CEST. Viewers across the globe can experience the full scope of the event, featuring over 5,500 athletes, hundreds of thousands of roadside fans, and world-class racing drama, all captured in real time with editorial commentary.
“Challenge Roth stands for peak athletic performance, emotional stories, and an unmatched atmosphere. We’re thrilled to broadcast this event live for the first time and bring it to an international audience,” said Tim Werner, CEO of German media company Mainstream Media, which operates World of Freesports jointly with sports marketing company quattro media.
The livestream will include uninterrupted coverage of the entire race day, featuring key moments from the swim start and the legendary Solar Hill to the transition zones and the marathon course. English-speaking presenters will report live from the course, and viewers will also see interviews with athletes, volunteers, and race organisers. Among the on-air team will be former Ironman World Champion Sebastian Kienle, providing expert commentary from Roth.
This year’s line-up features a host of top international triathletes, including Germany’s Laura Philipp, the reigning Ironman World Champion, as well as Frederic Funk and Jan Stratmann. International contenders such as Britain’s Laura Siddall and Thomas Bishop, and France’s Sam Laidlow, are also confirmed to race.
The race will also feature several well-known personalities: extreme cyclist and world record-holder Jonas Deichmann, former NHL star and Stanley Cup winner Zdeno Chára, professional German cyclist Rick Zabel, and rider Julia Schuler will all take on the Roth challenge.
Known as the “Wimbledon of Triathlon”, the Challenge Roth combines elite athleticism with a festival-like atmosphere. For many participants, it’s a chance to chase personal bests or even world records, spurred on by the sheer energy of the massive crowds lining the course.
