ORS Group launches global streaming brand Big Blue Marble

June 25, 2025 17.26 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Austrian broadcast technology provider ORS Group has unveiled a new international brand, Big Blue Marble, as it marks 20 years since its founding.

The move underscores the company’s ambition to grow from a national leader in broadcast transmission into a global player in the cloud streaming market while also representing the consolidated identity of ORS Group and its majority-owned Polish streaming specialist Insys Video Technologies, signalling a strategic shift towards international expansion and IP-based services.

“Antenna and satellite will continue to be key pillars of our strategy. Our broadcasting expertise and Insys VT’s streaming technologies perfectly position us to compete in this global market,” ORS Group CEO Michael Wagenhofer said at the anniversary celebration in Vienna. “Together with Insys, we have started to tap into international growth markets and expand our market presence as a streaming solutions provider.”

Founded in 2005 as a spin-off of Austrian public broadcaster ORF, ORS Group has traditionally focused on terrestrial, satellite, and cable distribution. Over the years, the company has helped drive the development of Austria’s media market, including launching DTT platform simpliTV and supporting standards such as DVB-T2 and DAB+.

The acquisition of a 75% stake in Insys VT in 2023 marked a turning point. With nearly 300 employees across Austria and Poland, the group is now leveraging its experience in broadcast-grade infrastructure to provide end-to-end streaming solutions.

ORS is also pioneering the development of 5G Broadcast technology, which enables the distribution of linear TV and radio broadcasts to mobile devices without relying on internet connections. This, the company argues, will also be vital for emergency communications during crises, where internet networks may fail.

The group has already delivered major streaming projects for clients such as German public broadcasters (ARD), football club Benfica Lisbon, and the German Football Association (DFB).

With annual revenues of €119 million – more than double its 2005 figure – ORS Group is banking on its dual heritage in traditional broadcasting and streaming to drive its next phase of growth.
