Tele2 has warned that fraudsters in the country have begun to target smart TVs in a bid to obtain personal data.
The telco said the attackers are targeting little known brands and under protected devices, whose users tend to download third-party apps from unknown and untrusted sources.
The scammers use a malware called Android-Vo1D that targets users of Android devices, particularly TVs.
“We have identified the highest number of cyberattacks on smart TVs in history, which once again confirms that fraudsters are trying to use any device to access personal data,” explains Alexander Bogdanov, Head of the Security Department at Tele2.
Bogdanov is warning subscribers about downloading third-party software from unknown sources and to carefully check the information about a particular app or software before downloading it, by using peer reviews.
In the last month, Tele2’s security solution Internet Security has eliminated €12.5 million in risks by protecting customers from various risks in the digital environment.
