United Media Sarl takes 50% of Greece’s Alpha TV

June 17, 2025 13.12 Europe/London By Julian Clover

United Media has received European Commission backing for its acquisition of a 50% stake in Alpha TV.

The unconditional approval secures United’s participation in Alpha TV and Green Pixel, the content production house behind a string of Greek language hits, in which Alpha owns 50%.

United says its new holding in the free-to-air broadcaster will help it achieve its objective of strengthening its presence in the European market.

Kiki Silvestriadou is being appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Alpha TV. Ms. Silvestriadou, a distinguished executive in the media sector, will continue to serve as Chief Executive Officer of the Nova Media pay-TV platform.

George Lamprou, CEO of Nova – a member of United Group – is being appointed Non-Executive Member of Alpha TV’s Board of Directors.

Alpha is one of the largest nationwide TV stations in Greece, and is home to some of the country’s biggest TV names and popular formats. Its family-oriented programming focuses on Greek fiction, live entertainment, news shows and internationally beloved movies and series.
