Vectra Group to sell part of infrastructure to Polish Open Fibre

June 10, 2025 12.57 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Poland’s Vectra Group has announced plans to sell its broadband infrastructure to the telecommunications wholesaler Polish Open Fibre (PŚO).

As part of the preliminary agreement, Vectra will sell 100% of shares in its subsidiary Elsat, which owns local broadband access infrastructure in those cities and towns where PŚO is already present, to Polski Światłowodow, which runs a network of local access companies

The transaction will cover a network reaching approximately 2.3 million homes, mainly in HFC and FTTH technology.

Vectra Group says it is getting closer to achieving its strategic goal of reaching 10 million farms through its own infrastructure (including Multimedia Polska) and partnerships with many open chains.

“Given the highly competitive Polish market, the transaction will enable us to further develop high-quality telecommunications infrastructure not only for today’s but also for tomorrow’s needs. Play, T-Mobile and Polkomtel are already using our network and technology competences. I hope that other major players in the retail market will join them soon. The funds raised will be used, m.in other things, to modernise our infrastructure and further deliberate expansion – both through organic growth and selected acquisitions,” says Tomasz Żurański, Member of the Supervisory Board of Vectra S.A. and Multimedia Polska sp. z o.o.

Within the Vectra’s own structure, Multimedia Polska is now responsible for the infrastructure and provision of wholesale access services to retail operators. After the transaction is finalised, the Company will focus its resources and activities on the development of the Vectra Group’s infrastructure – covering half of the existing coverage, a nationwide backbone network with a range of 10,000 km, as well as infrastructure supporting the business.

Vectra Group was one of the first companies on the Polish telecommunications market to separate its retail and wholesale activities.

The transaction is subject to certain conditions, including the approval of the relevant authorities in the field of concentration.
