Sky has unveiled a new version of its Sky Glass integrated streaming TV at a lower monthly price from the established Sky Glass.
Sky Glass Air will be available to buy from £6/month for new and existing customers when it goes on sale on Tuesday 10th June. The device runs on the same Sky OS software that already powers Sky Glass Gen 2 and Sky Stream. Sky is recommending it as an option for a second TV in the home.
It features a 4K HDR Quantum Dot screen, global dimming and contrast enhancement automatically that adjust the display for sharp, true-to-life visuals, combined with a Dolby Audio speaker system – the Sky Glass Gen 2 models feature a Dolby Atmos soundbar.
The biggest change is blindingly obvious – there’s no fancy Dolby Atmos soundbar built in. Instead, you get a more basic 2.0 stereo speaker setup with Dolby Audio.
Three colours are available – Sea Green, Carbon Grey, and Cotton White – and three sizes, 43-inch (£6/month), 55-inch (£10/month), and 65-inch (£13/month).
Carli Kerr, MD of Sky TV & NOW said, “With Sky Glass Air, we’re bringing the Sky experience to more people through a beautifully designed TV with stunning picture quality from just £6 a month. It’s all about giving people better for less: more choice, great tech, and the content they love, without compromising on quality. From the ultimate performance of Glass Gen 2 to the incredible value of Air, there’s now a Sky Glass to suit everyone, whether you’re new to Sky or already with us.”
Users can use the hands-free voice control to turn the TV on and navigate through shows, genres and apps. Shows can be added to the Playlist for later viewing or as a reminder as to when the next episode drops.
There are now 30 more genre rails on the homepage, which are personalised based on watch history and bring together suggestions of what to watch across Sky content, apps and channels.
Air joins the recently launched Sky Glass Gen 2, which offers an ultimate picture and sound experience, with a brighter 4K HDR screen and an enhanced seven-speaker Dolby Atmos sound system built in, from £14/month.
