DNMG adds wedotv channels to TIVEE platform

June 2, 2025 06.00 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German cable association DNMG is celebrating the first anniversary of its FAST Channel platform TIVEE with three additions: wedotv movies, wedotv big stories, and wedotv sports.

Cable customers of DNMG network operators can watch the three channels free of charge on HbbTV-enabled smart TVs.

Since its launch last year, TIVEE has established itself as the first FAST Channel HbbTV media library in the German cable market, currently offering 40 curated channels. The platform combines traditional cable television with internet streaming, providing viewers with a wide selection of content across the categories Films & Series, Entertainment, Music, Sport, Documentaries, Nature & Travel, Food & Drink, and Cars & Technology.

“We are proud of how TIVEE has established itself within just one year in the German entertainment market, bridging the gap between traditional cable TV and modern streaming. Our vision is to bring FAST Channels into the mainstream and make them accessible to everyone – simple, free, and with great variety,” says Damian Lohmann, Head of TIVEE at DNMG, adding that wedotv has been with TIVEE from the very beginning. “We’re therefore delighted to continue this journey together by integrating the wedotv channels and enhancing our portfolio with premium content that perfectly complements our existing offering.”

Jörg Ziemann, Head of TIVEE at DNMG, added: “Our mission remains to actively shape the future of cable television. Within just a year, TIVEE has become the leading platform for free, ad-supported streaming content in the German cable market. Our shared vision is clear: TIVEE is not just a platform for DNMG network operators, but an experience that is helping to shape the future of German entertainment.”

By integrating the wedotv channels, TIVEE is pursuing a strategic partnership with Video Solutions AG, a pioneer in the field of ad-funded streaming services.

“We are delighted to celebrate TIVEE’s first birthday with the launch of our channels, having been part of TIVEE’s journey since the very beginning. Working with TIVEE enables us to bring our premium content to a new, wider audience via cable,” said Philipp Rotermund, CEO and Founder of Video Solutions AG and wedotv. “Our channels focus on film genres such as drama, comedy, and horror, as well as TV series and documentaries. And with the acquisition of live sports rights for exclusive sports like horse racing and sailing, we’ve already won over many new viewers.”

TIVEE is available free of charge to customers of participating cable operators and works on most HbbTV-enabled TV sets from version ETSI V 1.5.1 onwards. The TIVEE media library opens automatically when the TIVEE channel slot is selected and the TV is connected to the internet. Viewers can navigate through the category and channel bars using the colour and arrow buttons on their remote control and can save their favourite channels. Network operators can use the integrated ad tiles in TIVEE to communicate with viewers and directly reach their target audience in the living room.

“TIVEE will continue to grow and expand its offering in its second year,” promises Lohmann. “More channels, more features – more TIVEE for our viewers.”
