The DVB Project has launched an international competition aimed at fostering the development of innovative and user-friendly DVB-I clients and applications.
The contest, which is open to to individuals, startups, academic teams, and established companies worldwide, invites participants to reimagine television interfaces and shape the future of viewer interaction across various devices.
Participants will have the chance to win a share of €17,000 in cash prizes, including a top prize of €10,000. The Geneva-based organisation says both traditional visual interfaces and experimental applications, such as voice-driven or AI-personalized designs, are welcome if they leverage DVB-I to enhance content discovery and enjoyment.
This competition emphasises enhancing the end-user experience by pushing the boundaries of how audiences interact with next-generation television services. While DVB-I’s technical capabilities have been well established, this initiative seeks to spotlight creative design and usability, encouraging entries that provide seamless and engaging user interfaces.
The final submission deadline is 31 October 2025, however potential entrants are “strongly encouraged” to submit an early Expression of Interest.
Winners will be announced in mid-December 2025, with a prizegiving set for March 2026 at DVB World.
