Orange France introduces SoftAtHome powered Wi-Fi 7 Liveboxes

May 23, 2025 12.48 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Orange France has begun the deployment of its new Wi-Fi 7 Liveboxes, Livebox 7 and Livebox S, powered entirely by SoftAtHome’s software.

The eco-designed super-routers include • Wi-Fi 7 with Multi-Link Operation for ultra-low latency, energy savings of up to 30% via an intelligent band management and a first-of-its-kind optical pencil for frictionless fibre setup.

“Our latest Liveboxes are not just faster – they’re greener and smarter,” said Guillaume Lacroix, Director Consumer Products & Services at Orange France. “With Wi-Fi 7 and simplified installation, we bring next-gen connectivity to more households while meeting our environmental commitments. SoftAtHome’s software platform plays a key role in delivering these new experiences.”

The new Liveboxes have previously been deployed in Poland and Switzerland.

“We’re proud to be the trusted software partner powering this new generation of Liveboxes,” said Arnaud Bellivier de Prin, CEO at SoftAtHome. “This launch proves how software can enable sustainable, high-performance connectivity at scale. Together with our operator partners, we are building the connected home experience of tomorrow.”

SoftAtHome’s embedded software platform brings operator-grade intelligence to Orange’s eco-designed devices. From recycled plastics and E-ink displays to fanless architecture and smart power management, the Livebox 7 introduces Intelligent Wi-Fi features that dynamically disable unused bands, reducing energy consumption by up to 30%.

SoftAtHome’s platform enables a significant generational leap through software, with the Livebox 7 now supporting Wi-Fi 7 and Multi-Link Operation (MLO). This allows connected devices to simultaneously utilise multiple bands, resulting in faster speeds, lower latency, and increased reliability, particularly in demanding home environments.

The seamless integration with Orange’s mobile apps, care systems, and repeaters is made possible through SoftAtHome’s unified and flexible software approach, ensuring consistent performance across all customer touchpoints.

White Paper: Why Wi-Fi 7 is critical for ISPs in the gigabit+ era

Today, consumers are increasingly using bandwidth-intensive and latency-sensitive workloads, such as 4K and 8K streaming, online gaming, and AR/VR applications. As a result, Internet Service Providers must update their networks and by extension Wi-Fi experiences and performance. … [Download the White Paper ...]
