Zattoo acquires Green Streams to expand TV platform and enter new markets

May 6, 2025 08.32 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

TV streaming provider Zattoo has acquired Green Streams to strengthen its position in the European B2B TV platform market and support expansion into new international territories.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2021, Berlin-based Green Streams offers a modular, cloud-native Media Integration Platform (MIP) aimed at telecommunications and pay-TV providers. The platform allows operators to combine existing infrastructure with a range of third-party modules, enabling a flexible and scalable approach to delivering TV and streaming services.

The acquisition marks a strategic shift for Zattoo, which plans to integrate Green Streams’ middleware technology into its own offering to create a modular, cloud-native and globally deployable platform focused on the needs of network operators.

“The acquisition of Green Streams is a milestone for Zattoo,” said Roger Elsener, CEO of the Swiss company. “It adds highly flexible, modular solutions perfectly tailored to network operators and international partners. This move not only cements our leadership in Europe but also unlocks global growth opportunities in a rapidly expanding market. It accelerates our technological progress and delivers solutions that set new benchmarks for efficiency and scalability.”

Green Streams has quickly gained traction with its technology in select markets, offering a system that allows service providers to integrate specialised solutions for each layer of the technology stack. According to Zattoo, the acquisition will enable faster development of new features and greater customisation for clients, combining in-house and third-party components.

The founders of Green Streams, Gernot Jaeger and Ivo Stock, both of whom previously held executive roles at Zattoo, will remain involved in the integration process and continue their work under the Zattoo brand.

“This is a significant moment for Green Streams,” said Jaeger. “Together with our committed investors, we set out to equip operators with agile, modular and powerful tools for success in TV and entertainment. We’re delighted that our technology will enhance Zattoo’s strong portfolio. Together we can shape the next generation of TV and streaming platforms and set new standards across the industry.”
