Ocilion launches IPTV streaming app for Samsung smart TVs

May 6, 2025 11.29 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

IPTV service provider Ocilion is expanding the reach of its white-label TV solution with the launch of a dedicated streaming app for Samsung smart TVs.

Running on Samsung devices with the Tizen operating system (version 6.0 and above), the new app enables end users to access the full IPTV service of their network operator directly on their television sets.

The app supports a wide range of features, including live TV with time-shift functions such as replay, restart, and recording, as well as a premium electronic programme guide (EPG), integrated video library and radio. Available in both a branded version tailored to the network operator and a neutral “TV Fellow” version, the app provides operators with flexible deployment options.

With this latest addition, Ocilion’s IPTV offering is now available across a large number of platforms: operator-provided set-top boxes, smartphones and tablets (iOS and Android), PCs and Macs (via web browsers), Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV sticks, Android TV smart TVs and now also Samsung Tizen-based smart TVs.

Tizen, co-developed by Intel and Samsung, has been in use on a wide range of Samsung smart TVs since around 2021.

„According to the ‘Nielsen Media Usage 2024’ report, streaming video consumption in Germany primarily takes place in the living room, on the big screen. Samsung smart TVs, streaming sticks – particularly Fire TV – and network operators’ set-top boxes dominate usage. That’s why we’ve prioritised the development of our Samsung TV app. This expansion ensures that our IPTV service is now available on all three key devices for streaming, giving end customers even greater freedom in how they access their TV content,” said Jan Frosch, Head of Product Management at Ocilion.
