Viaplay to broadcast UEFA European Championship this summer

April 30, 2025 13.53 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Viaplay is to share the rights to this year’s UEFA European Football Championship with the public broadcaster SVT.

“It feels great that we can give our viewers the highlight of the summer,” says Viaplay’s sports director Erik Westberg.

The FIFA World Cup 2023 was a success for the Swedish women’s national team, who eventually salvaged a bronze medal after defeating Australia 2-0. It was a viewing success on Viasat’s TV6, where the match attracted a maximum of 1,670,000 people.

The competition takes place in Switzerland between July 2-27. All matches will be available to watch on Viaplay.

“The FIFA World Cup 2023 was a huge success, both on the pitch and for Viaplay. We hope for another magical summer for the team and the Swedish people,” adds Westberg.

Viaplay is also sharing the rights to the domestic competition, the OBOS Damallsvenskan, starting this August.
