
Netflix has confounded the current financial uncertainty with Q1 revenue 13% up and continued growth in advertising revenue.
Netflix reported first-quarter revenue of $10.54 billion, nudging ahead of analysts’ estimates of $10.52 billion.
The company said it was forecasting 2025 revenue of $43.5 billion, based on “healthy member growth, higher subscription pricing and a rough doubling of our ad revenue”.
UK produced drama Adolescence is now its most popular English series ever with 124 million views to date.
Netflix is now quieter about its subscriber numbers, but said it had an audience estimated at over 700 million people, with over two-thirds of them living outside the US.
In January, the company reported it had added a record 18.9 million subscribers in the fourth quarter of 2024.
No new subscriber data was offered an analysts believe this is a signal of lower
subscriber growth to come.
It was announced that co-founder Reed Hastings had left his post as executive chairman to become the board’s non-executive chair, “part of the natural evolution of our leadership structure and succession planning”.
