Sofia Digital is partnering with Intelsat in the launch of its VideoNow Live TV and Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) Android TV application for Intelsat’s Galaxy 19 neighbourhood.
The project integrates a modern EPG solution with advanced audience measurement capabilities, enabling ad monetisation for free-to-air (FTA) satellite television.
The service will offer broadcasters and advertisers detailed insights into viewer behaviour, allowing for more targeted advertising strategies. The upgraded EPG will provide a more engaging and personalised viewing experience for audiences across various regions.
Lasse Soininen, Project Manager at Sofia Digital, says: “Creating the new Android TV app has been a pleasure. Our teams were aligned from day one, and this synergy allowed us to deliver a solid end-to-end solution quickly and effectively. We’re excited about the possibilities this brings to FTA content providers and equally happy to offer a better experience for the viewers at home.”
Pascale Fromont, Vice-President and General Manager for Media at Intelsat, added: “This project is groundbreaking for North America’s free-to-air satellite TV market. With Android TV technology and Sofia Digital’s expertise, we’re now able to gain valuable insights into viewership trends that were previously unattainable. The cooperation with Sofia Digital was seamless, and we’re thrilled with the outcome. We really look forward to a brighter future for our Galaxy 19 video neighborhood.”
This initiative highlights Sofia Digital’s commitment to innovation in broadcast industry, metadata aggregation and SmartTV app development, providing tools and solutions that enhance viewer engagement and open new revenue streams for content providers.
