LaLiga has completed the selection process for the companies that will manage the production for its two divisions over the next five years.
Audiovisual production company Host Broadcast Services (HBS) has been selected for three of the five designated blocks, while a fourth will be handled by Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales (TSA).
HBS will take over production of LaLiga EA Sports (League 1) and LaLiga Hypermotion (League 2) as well as MCR and centralised services. HBS has been host broadcaster for every FIFA World Cup since 2002, as well as major competitions such as the UEFA Champions League, the European Championships, and the Africa Cup of Nations.
TSA will be responsible for Lot 4, focused on contribution and distribution. It has extensive experience in major sporting events such as the UEFA Champions League, the Copa del Rey, and the Olympic Games.
Lot 5, which covers the generation of content, has not been awarded after evaluating the offers received.
The decision to award the production contracts to HBS angered Mediapro, which believed it had put forward a superior bid.
“It is unprecedented that LaLiga has in-stead awarded the contract to a more expensive bidder – a Swiss based supplier with no technical infrastructure in Spain and no prior experience in producing a full-season football competition of this scale,” said a statement issued by Mediapro.
The process, which began in September 2024, included consultancy Abacanto, which was responsible for a technical evaluation of the bids.
