Vodafone and Three are working on plans to launch their own TV service following their £15 billion UK merger.
The two telecommunications companies have held initial talks about the introduction of the service, The Sunday Telegraph first reported.
It is hoped the bundling of the TV service would help with subscriber retention as is already the case for Sky, Virgin Media and BT/EE.
Vodafone is no stranger to the operation of a TV network – it has 8.5 million TV subs in Germany – and holds an interest in the Dutch VodafoneZiggo network.
Talks are said to be at an early stage, but would most likely offer subscribers a combination of linear TV and streaming services, such as Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+.
Vodafone has previously offered UK subscribers an Apple TV box as part of its sign on package.
In December, Vodafone and Three were given regulatory approval for what will be the UK’s largest mobile network with around 27 million subscribers. It would also reduce the number of UK mobile operators from four to three.
Vodafone does not operate its own broadband network, but instead uses infrastructure from CityFibre and BT Openreach
