Warner Bros Discovery has abandoned plans to sell its Polish TV operations TVN.
In a statement sent to staff on Monday Kasia Kieli, head of Warner Bros. Discovery in Poland and CEO at TVN, and Gerhard Zeiler, president of WBD International said the company had reached its decision following a strategic review.
“WBD has concluded that the best path forward is retaining ownership of TVN, continuing to support our business, our strategy and the incredible journalistic work of our team,” it said.
The TVN Group also includes the 24-hour news channels TVN24 and TVN24BiS.
Initial interest came from the Polish businessman Michal Solowow through his MS Galleon fund and media group WP Holding. However, it’s believed Solowow dropped his bid due to the economic uncertainty created by the Trump administration.
MediaForEurope is believed to have dropped its bid in February.
Polish media sources indicate WBD paused the process before any of the suitors had posted a formal bid.
