Joyn adds Bavarian local TV channels

April 14, 2025 17.21 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Joyn, the streaming service operated by German broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1, is expanding its free live TV offering with 14 local channels from Bavaria.

In future, viewers will be able to watch allgäu.tv, augsburg.tv, Franken Fernsehen, münchen.tv, Niederbayern TV Deggendorf-Straubing, Landshut and Passau as well as Oberpfalz TV, Regio TV Schwaben, Regionalfernsehen Oberbayern, TV Mainfranken, TV Oberfranken, tv.ingolstadt and TVA Ostbayern live and free of charge on Joyn.

The move is part of the commitment by Bavarian media regulator BLM and its technology subsidiary bmt to the distribution of local TV programmes on OTT platforms.

“We are continuously expanding our free live TV offering for our viewers on Joyn. We are very pleased about the close cooperation with BLM and about the fact that we are supporting the diversity of opinion and offerings for all viewers in Bavaria with the enhanced distribution of 14 private local and regional stations,” said Katharina Frömsdorf, CEO of Joyn.

Another recent addition to Joyn’s channels portfolio is the German Parliamentary Channel (“Parlamentsfernsehen”) which shows live sessions from the German Bundestag.
