The long-awaited transition of Finand’s broadcast television to high definition has begun with the transfer of YLE’s channels to the HD format in DVB-T2.
The public service channels broadcast in standard definition on Digita’s terrestrial network and the country’s cable networks were switched off at 02:01 on April 1, 2025.
Commercial TV channels will make the move on June 30, 2025.
The transition is based on joint long-term planning by the entire TV industry and Traficom.
Digita is providing a consumer helpline and is advising viewers to check availability in their summer houses.
