Sport1 launches streaming service show1.tv

March 31, 2025 13.25 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German broadcaster Sport1 has launched entertainment streaming service show1.tv, further expanding its focus beyond sports.

The new platform, which is now live on the web at www.show1.tv and will soon be available as a free app, serves as a central hub for Sport1’s growing portfolio of entertainment formats. Audiences can now access shows such as My Style Rocks, MasterChef Germany, Power of Love, and Exatlon Germany both as livestreams and on-demand.

With the expansion, Sport1 aims to reach younger and more diverse audiences, particularly within the key advertising demographic of 14 to 49-year-olds.

The platform’s launch is the latest development in Sport1’s broader content strategy, which has seen an increasing focus on reality and competition-based programming following the acquisition of a 50% stake by Acunmedya in 2024. The Turkish media company has introduced a variety of formats to the German market, including fashion competitions, reality dating shows, and survival-based series, broadening Sport1’s appeal beyond traditional sports audiences.

“With the start of Show1.tv, we are taking the next logical step in our transformation and programming offensive. This is a major milestone, not just for our entertainment-loving audience, but also for the advertising market,” said Matthias Reichert, Managing Director of Sport1.

Reichert emphasised the platform’s role in catering to evolving viewer habits, particularly among younger demographics who prefer digital and on-demand content. “This expansion into a dedicated entertainment world, alongside our multichannel sports platform, is a key step in our content strategy. Through significant investment in both programming and platform development, we aim to broaden our audience and establish one of the most ambitious projects in the German media landscape,” he added.
