Disney commemorates fifth anniversary with new content slate

March 24, 2025 10.49 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Disney+ has announced a raft of new content for the UK and Ireland, ahead of its fifth birthday in March.

Titles include FX’s highly anticipated Alien: Earth, the new limited series FX’s Dying for Sex starring Michelle Williams and Jenny Slate, star-studded UK Original The Stolen Girl, a five-part psychological drama starring Denise Gough, Holliday Grainger and Ambika Mod.

Based on the book Playdate by Alex Dahl, The Stolen Girl is the five-part story of a seemingly happy family plunged into a life-altering situation and launches exclusively on 16 April 2025 on Disney+ worldwide.

Suspect: The Shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes, is a four-part UK Original drama written and produced by BAFTA Award winning Jeff Pope (Philomena, Stan and Ollie). It focuses on the events surrounding the tragic killing of innocent Brazilian Jean Charles de Menezes, after he is mistaken for a terrorist.

Further UK unscripted Originals include Sneaker Wars: Adidas vs. Puma the three-part documentary series from David Beckham’s Studio 99 that dives deep into the fierce, decades-long rivalry between two global sportswear giants, born from a family feud. An untitled Freddie Flintoff Original documentary film from award-winning director John Dower will cover the former international cricketer and broadcast presenter’s recovery and career to date. This is alongside Caroline (working title), a documentary celebrating the life and career of one of the UK’s most popular TV presenters Caroline Flack, which follows Christine, Caroline’s mother, as she seeks to understand the events in the final months of her daughter’s life.

There are also returns for FX’s The Bear, Only Murders in the Building, and The Simpsons, which now streams exclusively on Disney+ in the UK.

New series from National Geographic include Limitless with Chris Hemsworth, Underdogs, Ocean with David Attenborough, and Tucci in Italy.
