Sonos has reportedly put a halt to plans to create a high-end video streaming product.
Codenamed Pinewood, it would have been the troubled audio company’s major hardware release of 2025.
The troubled audio company has been struggling to win back supporters since an ill-fated revamp of its app rendered some of its product line inoperable.
According to The Verge, which first reported the story, the news was broken during a leadership call last week.
The team working on the product – already in beta testing – will now be assigned to other areas of the company.
Pinewood would have used an operating system run by The Trade Desk.
Video streaming hardware is already a well occupied market with Apple, Amazon and Roku all competing for space alongside TV manufacturers who would claim to already have the technology built into their product.
