YouTube says it is expanding its Premium Lite pilot to users in the United States.
The $7.99 per month offer is a discount on the full $13.99 Premium subscription. Its main benefit is the removal of advertisements from YouTube’s video service. Subscribers need to upgrade to Premium if they want to also remove advertising from music streaming and music videos.
Premium Lite is also being extended to the other pilot countries if Thailand, Germany, and Australia.
The number of countries where the service is available will be expanded later this year.

YouTube’s statement also added that YouTube Music and Premium currently reaches over 125 million subscribers, including trials globally.
YouTube Premium and Premium Lite have been trialled in various markets since 2021.
