Telefónica España and Vodafone Spain JV to be known as Fiberpass

February 12, 2025 13.15 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Telefónica España and Vodafone Spain are to launch their new joint fiber optic service company (FiberCo) under the name Fiberpass.

Created last November, Fiberpass will use the strapline ‘Sharing the future together’.

Both companies have agreed that Telefónica España’s director of operations Pablo Ledesma should become CEO of the new operation. Ledesma has been in his current post for seven out of 25 years with the Spanish telco.

Fiberpass will cover approximately 3.6 million building units passed and will enable both parties to maximise the use of the current FTTH network.

The operation is pending relevant regulatory authorisations.

Last Tuesday, the Council of Ministers approved the agreement authorising Vodafone Spain’s foreign investment in this joint venture, while the remaining authorisations are expected to be received in the coming weeks.
