Sportdigital secures exclusive NASCAR Cup Series rights

January 30, 2025 11.16 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German pay-TV broadcaster Sportdigital has acquired the exclusive live broadcast rights to the NASCAR Cup Series in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The agreement, which runs until the end of 2027, ensures that all 36 championship races will be broadcast live on Sportdigital1+ with German-language commentary.

Motorsport experts Pete Fink and André Wiegold will provide live commentary for the races of the NASCAR Cup Series, one of the world’s premier motorsport events. In addition to the live coverage, Sportdigital1+ will screen a weekly one-hour highlight show, offering fans a comprehensive recap of the latest racing action.

“Sportdigital has kicked off 2025 at full speed with two new channels, and securing the exclusive NASCAR Cup Series rights fits perfectly into our strategy,” said Gisbert Wundram, Managing Director of Sportdigital. “We are committed to providing a top-tier home for this prestigious motorsport series, and fans can look forward to extensive coverage and expert analysis from our commentary team.”

The NASCAR season on Sportdigital1+ begins this weekend with the “Cook Out Clash” at Bowman Gray Stadium in North Carolina. This will be followed by “The Duel at Daytona” on 13 February, leading up to the highly anticipated “Daytona 500” race on 16 February. The first live broadcast on Sportdigital1+ will air in the early hours of Monday morning at 2:00 AM CET, featuring commentary from Fink and Wiegold.

Sportdigital expanded its channel portfolio on 1 January with the launch of the pay-TV services Sportdigital1+ and eSportsONE, available on all major cable, satellite, IPTV and streaming platforms.
