NOW to migrate to NBCU’s Global Streaming Platform

January 29, 2025 13.26 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Sky’s streaming platform NOW has unveiled a brand new look and feel to its UI.

The changes were announced by Carli Kerr, Managing Director of NOW & Sky Content, at the OTT Question Time Live event in London Wednesday.

Starting in February, NOW will migrate on to NBCUniversal’s technology platform to deliver a world class streaming experience for its members. As part of a phased update, UK customers will be the first to experience the new look, starting on 18 February. Device updates for NOW members in Italy and WOW members in Germany will take place at a later date.

“Migrating to NBCU’s Global Streaming Platform means NOW members will benefit from the ongoing delivery of customer features that enhance the viewing experience and leverage the latest technologies and innovations across the platform”.

I thought you’d be interested in some comments Carli Kerr, Managing Director of NOW & Sky Content, made at the OTT Question Time Live event earlier today, about some improvements that are coming to NOW, Sky’s streaming platform, from 18 February.

Whilst the NOW brand will remain unchanged, the new look and feel will adopt NBCUniversal’s platform to further enhance the viewing experience and deliver a more personalised experience overall.

New rails such as Top 10s will appear and there will be smoother search options. For Sports Members, SkySports+ streams will be housed as curated collections, making it easier to get to what they want to watch in one place. There will be more choice and control for families with the introduction of Kids profiles

NBCUniversal’s Global Streaming Platform already powers Peacock in the US, SkyShowtime in Europe and Multichoice in Africa, reaching over 70 countries and has time and again demonstrated the power of this technical infrastructure.
