DVB adds five new Members

January 24, 2025 12.55 Europe/London By Julian Clover

The DVB Steering Board has approved the applications of five new Members, which it says represents “a significant injection of fresh input and energy for the organization’s work”.

The five companies are DTVKit, OnScreen Publishing, PikoTV, Sofia Digital, and Yotta Media.

DTVKit provides standards-based software libraries to a collaborative membership of content-delivery platform implementors. “Being a DVB Member is a natural step following the introduction of our new DVB-NIP library, helping to ensure our members can deliver solutions as seamlessly and quickly as possible. We are excited to be a part of DVB and contribute to the progressive future of broadcast solutions,” said Amy Cleary, Managing Director of DTVKit.

OnScreen Publishing specializes in delivering content to multiple screens, covering smart TVs, HbbTV, tablets, phones and the web. In recent years, the UK-based company has been concentrating on developing apps and metadata delivery tools for the new DVB-I standard.  “Having been part of DVB during the early days of the digital transition I’m very pleased to be joining the organization for the next journey: through hybrid working to all-IP. It’s great to see that DVB has maintained its relevance and that its collaborative way of working is as strong as ever. I look forward to supporting the deployment of DVB-I and beyond,” said OnScreen Publishing’s founder Gordon Maynard.

PikoTV specializes in the design and manufacture of cutting-edge broadcasting equipment, including encoders, decoders, transcoders, and media gateway units. Based in Turkey, the company’s expertise extends to DVB-NIP, push VOD and DVB-compliant Android TV devices.  “As a member of the DVB Project, PikoTV is committed to advancing the state of broadcasting and streaming technologies. We believe that DVB’s standards are critical to the continued evolution of the media industry, and we are excited to collaborate with the global DVB community to shape the future of digital broadcasting,” said M. Ali Vardar, General Manager at PikoTV.

Sofia Digital is a high-tech company based in Finland with 25 years of expertise in delivering innovative products for a wide range of devices, including TVs, web platforms and mobile devices. Its areas of expertise include DVB service information, DVB-I, OTT solutions, targeted advertising, metadata aggregation, and TV testing services.  “Joining the DVB Project is a natural progression to our commitment to help shape the future of digital broadcasting. As pioneers in DVB-I technology since developing the DVB-I reference client, we are happy to collaborate with the industry to enable standards that enhance user experiences and drive innovation globally,” said Mika Kanerva, Co-founder and COO of Sofia Digital.

Based in the UK, Yotta Media provides innovative broadcast solutions for TV operators and manufacturers worldwide, continually pushing the boundaries of technology to shape the future of media delivery. The company develops cloud-based products for operators and broadcasters along with interactive applications. Recent projects have included a range of PoCs exploiting DVB-TA (Targeted Advertising) and managing DVB-I services for partner companies. “Yotta Media is delighted to become a DVB Member. The ethos of our company is to explore, create, and innovate, and joining DVB marks an exciting step forward as we look ahead to driving new implementations and contributing to the evolution of broadcasting standards. This partnership will enable us to collaborate more closely with industry leaders, paving the way for cutting-edge solutions that enhance the consumer viewing experience globally,” said Raj Patel, Yotta’s CEO and Co-founder.
