Sky Stream, the puck-like device that replaces the satellite dish with internet-delivered content, has given UK viewers the ability to add DTT channels.
A software update issued in the last few days adds a TV antenna icon to the Apps and Inputs rail of the Sky Stream homepage. If users connect an aerial via the UHF input on the back of the 11cm device its possible to conduct a scan of locally available channels.
The receiver will pick up both SD and HD broadcasts, though not data, so there is no Red Button content available on BBC channels.
Update 14/01/25: It’s now emerged that the ability to receive terrestrial channels was switched on in error. The functionaity has now been withdrawn. Sister product Sky Glass has a DTT fallback function in the case of broadband failure, and the feature remains on the integrated display’s version of Entertainment OS.
